Full Day
The other Rainbow Mountain
Discover Palccoyo, the serene and extraordinarily impressive alternative to the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Explore a dreamlike landscape where three majestic rainbow peaks rise before your eyes, offering unique experiences in tranquility and unparalleled natural beauty.
This full-day tour is designed for travelers who want to discover less crowded wonders without giving up comfort or adventure. The hike at Palccoyo is shorter and more accessible — ideal for acclimatizing to altitude while enjoying breathtaking Andean panoramas.
04:20–04:50 | Hotel pickup in Cusco. Private transfer toward the south of the Sacred Valley.
06:30 | Andean Breakfast in Cusipata (3,310 m). Buffet breakfast with local products.
08:00 | Cultural Visit to Checacupe (3,446 m). Three bridges from different eras: Inca, colonial, and republican.
09:30 | Palccoyo Community. Llamas and alpacas graze freely on the slopes in an authentically Andean setting.
10:00 | Hike to the Three Rainbow Mountains Viewpoint (4,900 m). 40-minute gentle hike. Ochre, green, red, and yellow mountains stretch before you. Explore the stone forest and take stunning photos.
12:30 | Return & Buffet Lunch in Cusipata. Peruvian specialties to recharge after the hike.
14:30 | Return to Cusco. Drop-off at Plaza de Armas (~17:30).
It is a moderate hike due to the altitude (it can exceed 4,800 m / 15,750 ft). You go at your own pace; the key is to be well acclimatized.
We recommend arriving in Cusco 1 or 2 days early to acclimatize, staying hydrated, eating light and avoiding alcohol the day before. Coca tea helps and, if you are sensitive, you can bring altitude-sickness pills ("Soroche Pills"), available at any pharmacy.
Warm, layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, trekking shoes or boots, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen (50+ SPF), water, energy snacks, your original ID and cash in soles for entrance fees and tips.
Departure is very early (before dawn) to enjoy the best light and avoid crowds. We will confirm the exact pickup time when you book.
The dry season (April to October) offers sunny days and the best trails. November to March is rainier, but the scenery is greener and there are fewer visitors.
Yes. For bookings of more than 5 people we apply a 20% discount on the per-person price. Ask us about larger groups.
We recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks ahead, and even earlier during high season (June to August), when spots sell out quickly.
Changes and cancellations may be subject to deadlines and fees depending on the service booked. Write to us to review your case and find the best solution.
